Going Public - Imago Dei

Our going public class for kids grade 6 to 12 has been very inspiring for me. It's the real stuff. The kids have tough questions, they hear each other's spiritual story, they pray for each other and they are being challenged. I love the times together.

It's been said that kids are over entertained and underchallenged - I think this is true in churches. I was part of a ministry where kids would be paid $5 if they brought a friend - talk about warped.

Being a part of a group where they engage in a topic - like Imago Dei - and then all of a sudden the room gets real serious and they start to get the implications of what we are talking about. A new reality become visible. Everyone in the room begins to change. We realize we are being visited.

I have tried to manufacture those moments in the past, or use giftings to catalyze them, or pray them into existence, but the reality is, only Jesus can make it real like that. It's those moments and experiences that make me realize that we are all in something that is bigger than ourselves, bigger than our giftings, bigger than our creativity. We know this, but when we are humbled, it's makes it all worth it.

Friends, this Jesus revolution movement is real.

to wet to burn

Got this from Scott:

A curious fellow died one day and found himself waiting in the long line of judgment. As he stood there he noticed that some souls were allowed to march right through the Pearly Gates into Heaven.

Others though, were led over to Satan who threw them into the burning pit. But every so often, instead of hurling a poor soul into the fire, Satan would toss a soul off to one side into a small pile. After watching Satan do this several times, the fellow's curiosity got the best of him, so he strolled over and asked Satan what he was doing."Excuse me, Mr. Prince of Darkness," he said, "I'm waiting in line for judgment, but I couldn't help wondering.... why are you tossing those people aside instead of flinging them into the Fires of Hell with the others?"

"Ah, those...," Satan said with a groan, "They're all from Vancouver!" "They're still too wet to burn."

Boycott Rain

Yesterday was the first day of sunshine in over 40 days here in Chilliwack. The rain here in BC has been brutal. Sarah agrees. It’s dark, rainy and cold. Everyone is sick of it. When the sun comes, it will be awesome – it always is here in Chilliwack when the sun comes.
